Kids do the craziest things! It's been a long time [3] since Cher Horowitz Alicia Silverstone tried to talk her way out of a bad grade in debate class in the iconic 1995 movie Clueless [4], but now that her 7-year-old son [5] has seen the movie, she has even more explaining to do. During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert [6], the 41-year-old actress shared that she'd been holding out on showing her son, Bear Blu Jarecki, her infamous movie for its inappropriate scenes, and when she finally did, well, he had quite the unexpected reaction.
"I took him to see it because it was at the LA cemetery where they show it for 4,000 people," Alicia said, explaining that it was a beautiful setup with pillows and Rosé. "He loved it, but the one thing he took away from it, aside from all the things I was worried about, was he kept trying to french kiss me afterward."
Yep, that kiss between Alicia and onscreen stepbrother Paul Rudd [7] was obviously one to remember, but absolutely not one to be attempted off screen (with Mom). Colbert gave a serious eyebrow raise and reminded her that this "was not appropriate," but she handled it with her motherly nature. "I just kept my mouth closed, that's what I did," Alicia said. "And I just giggled, I mean, it's just supersweet."
Don't worry, Bear has stopped his kissing attempts, but it's hilarious that that was the one thing he picked up on from the movie (because 7-year-old me would've totally added "as if!" to my everyday vocabulary). Kissing your child on the lips [8] has always been a topic of debate, and while many think it's inappropriate [9], we can just interpret Bear's response as an innocent observation of the movie.
