Boy Writes Paper About Not Doing Homework

This Boy's Epic Essay About Not Doing His Homework Might Just Earn Him a Free Pass For Life

A little boy named Edward Immaunel Cortez is taking a stand against homework, once and for all. In a now-viral "essay" that's making its way around the Twittersphere, he declared that he wasn't doing homework because it's not a source of happiness for him. And in the spirit of Marie Kondo, we kind of have to agree with him. His father's cousin Lydia originally tweeted out the letter on Feb. 14, and it's brilliant.

"So my cousin and his wife got an email from their [son's] teacher," she captioned her tweet. "He didn't do his homework so she asked him to write a paper saying why he didn't do his homework and this is what she got . . ."

"I didn't do my homework because I don't want to do school work over the weekend because it's a stress-free time to go out with friends, watch TV, and play games," he wrote in the essay. "I don't do it also because it makes me very mad and unhappy and I want to do what makes me happy. I do what makes me happy because I want to be happy. Plus, my mom has been trying to find grey hairs not trying to stress out, dog. The real world jobs don't give you homework unless you're a boss or a teacher. Homework is not a real thing in the real world so we should not have to do it in school because it's not useful. Case closed. The court rules in favour of Edward Immaunel Cortez in the case of student v. homework."
