David Henrie and Maria Cahill Welcome First Baby 2019
New Dad David Henrie Calls Rainbow Baby Pia a "Special Blessing"
Former Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie is officially a dad! He and his wife, Maria Cahill, welcomed their first child together Wednesday, and David expressed excitement about his new baby girl, Pia, in a heartwarming message on Instagram. "Today is a particularly special day for Maria and I . . . and it's special because in order to get to where we are today, with the joy of our newborn in our arms, my wife and I went through trials," he wrote.
David revealed that he and Maria are extremely grateful to hold their new daughter in their arms after having suffered three miscarriages. "I felt compelled to share this because I had no clue just how difficult trying to start a family could be," he added.
David said that going through three miscarriages was beyond difficult, but he hopes their story sheds some positive light on the situation for couples who have endured similar struggles. "While it was insanely difficult recovering from miscarriage after miscarriage, we knew if we were ever going to be able to hold a baby of our own in our arms that we must not let the tragedy affect our marriage, but rather grow closer together!"
As for the baby girl's middle name, Francesca? The couple chose it in honour of Pope Francis. During a trip to Italy, David asked Pope Francis himself to pray for him and Maria so they could one day welcome a baby of their own into the world, and almost nine months later, Pia Philomena Francesca Henrie is here! "For all those who are struggling #pray #hope and #dontworry!! Always," David said.
David and Maria were married in April 2017 after dating for three years. The couple first announced they were expecting back in September when David posted a video from their gender reveal party on Instagram, saying: "ITS A GIRL ITS A GIRL ITS A GIRL. I'm a Poppa!!!!!!! I'm so overwhelmed with joy. I had to share this with you guys." Now that rainbow baby Pia is here, it's safe to say the couple have many more joyful moments to look forward to.
