Grandmothers According to Zodiac Signs

Grandmothers Ranked From Best to Not So Great, According to Their Zodiac

Not all grandmothers are created equal. Some might relish story time and imagination play, others thrive on family time. No matter what kind of grandma your kids have, you'll find their most characteristic traits in this list under their zodiac sign, ordered from best to worst.

  1. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): If you close your eyes and picture a grandmother, Aquarius is it. Kind, altruistic, compassionate, and willing to see that people have their own individual needs, Aquarius grandmothers have it all. While they do have a streak that makes them a little flighty, since they love family, you won't have any problem getting them to come over.
  2. Gemini (May 21-June 20): Be careful with this sign: Geminis might get everyone into a healthy amount of trouble, and that's what makes them so much fun. Lovable, charismatic, and always up for an adventure, this grandma really knows how to appreciate life. She loves being surrounded by people; just make sure she gets some downtime away from family, too.
  3. Cancer (June 21-July 21): Cancer grandmas are pretty lovable, especially because they like to babysit — a lot. Try to not take advantage of their caring nature because like all signs, they need time to themselves, too. This sign relishes creative activities, such as imagination play.
  4. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20): This fish sign really knows how to go with the flow, but it's that same ease that brings them down a couple notches. Their kindness and willingness to believe others make them the kind of grandma that might get walked all over by pushy grandchildren and parents.
  5. Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): A compassionate sign, Libra is the grandmother who really wants everyone to get along with everyone, so she makes sure everything is fair. If she gives one grandchild a present, you know for a fact that there is another one for everyone else. This sign gives a lot, loves strongly, and expects children to act with compassion.
  6. Taurus (April 20-May 20): Taurus grandmothers exude confidence and are the type to leave a big mark on their grandchildren's life. The Taurus grandma is the one who has a stack of recipes she's been collecting, teaches children how to garden, and loves art time. Touchy-feely stuff might not be her strong suit, but she shows she cares with her actions.
  7. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Adept planners, Virgo grandmothers love spending time with their grandchildren. The Virgo sign rules by impulse to doing anything possible for their family. Expect them to buy all the presents, plan all the trips, and do all the activities, which can be a little hard for the parents. Set boundaries early.
  8. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Known for being frank, this grandmother tells it like it is, even if kids and parents don't want to hear it. This is the sign that has an opinion about every parenting decision, and you'll be hard pressed to get her to not share it. Of course, Sagittarius's intelligence means she's likely right, but it can be hard to hear.
  9. Aries (March 21-April 19): These little rams sure are spunky, even in their old age. They will always be up for an adventure, but sometimes that spunk can get in the way of the parents' needs. When they are there, Aries grandmas are present and passionate about their family.
  10. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Passionate and fiercely loyal, this is the sign that will protect her family unconditionally. That same streak can be hard to deal with when conflict arises. Scorpio grandmothers know what their grandchildren need, and you might see them fighting people on Facebook about who has the smartest grandchild.
  11. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): This impassioned grandma is great for sports and competitive activities like board games. While she has a childlike side to her, it's that same trait that leads her to not know how to stop playing. Put down the board game, Grandma. Step away from the soccer ball! It's naptime for the kiddos.
  12. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): This grandma is very elegant and has a reserved character. Don't expect her to be the kind that openly welcomes cleaning her grandchild's snotty nose. Just because she's unwilling to do the dirty work doesn't mean she doesn't have much to offer. Her competitive streak makes family game night fun but at times rough.
