The last day of school [1] is every kid's dream . . . and most parents' nightmare. On one hand, there's a whole Summer of fun to look forward to [2] with your little ones, but on the other, your child is going to have less daily structure [3], which will probably drive you a little crazy. Whether your kid is all signed up for camp [4] or you'll be home with them almost every day, that last school day will send you on an emotional roller coaster.
“Phew, one more day to get them out the door in a semi-matching outfit.”
Also, I get a break from packing lunches!
“Another school year down! Wow, I am really proud . . . of myself.”
I get to take just an ounce or two of credit. I did help with homework, after all.
“OK, they'll have camp one day, a babysitter the next, a playdate after that . . .”
Deep breaths, deep breaths.
“What if, starting tomorrow, I come home and my house is destroyed?!”
They'll have too much free time and anything could happen . . .
“When did Summer get so stressful?”
Kids don't realize how easy they have it.
“Wait, I’ll just leave a really long chore list!”
It'll take all day so there won't be any time to get into trouble.
