Kate Hudson Says She's "Definitely a Better Parent" Compared to 15 Years Ago
After giving birth to her daughter Rani Rose just three short months ago, Kate Hudson sat down to discuss all things motherhood and her new partnership with WW — formerly known as Weight Watchers — on TODAY. She touched on everything from the challenges of producing milk to how being a mum today compares to when she had her first child 15 years ago, and we're all ears.
"I'm breastfeeding constantly now," she said. "And I'm trying to figure out how to balance the breastfeeding and the work. Even mums [who] have multiple kids, it's just hard. And the pumping — look — I have one friend who's like a milk machine . . . I wish I was a milk machine! I'm not! I need to pump and I need to be on it."
But according to the mum of three, a big family has always been in the cards.
"I always thought I'd have four to six kids . . . when you come from a big family, I think . . . either you don't want kids or you want a lot of kids. At one point, I was like, 'Well, maybe I'm done' and then I met Danny and I was like all right, well I gotta pop 'em out for him."

Although Kate said she's not sure if another baby is on the horizon for her and her boyfriend Danny Fujikawa, the age gap between her oldest son Ryder and Rani was a topic of discussion recently. "Fifteen years and a newborn is really quite amazing to watch," she explained. "It's a completely different generation. And you realise, my son looked at me and goes 'Mum, when I'm 30 she's going to be just turning 16' . . . but that's wild that I'll have a 30-year-old kid and a child in high school."
While Kate certainly acknowledges the big age gap between them, she admits there are some pros to having children further apart.
"I'm definitely a better parent. I'm not messing up Rani as much as I messed up Ryder," she joked. "I think that . . . my life is just different. I'm doing different things. Ryder and I had this seven years of like nomad gypsy life and it was amazing. And he was attached at my hip and we travelled the world and he came everywhere with me and I was shooting movies. And then you add another one into the mix and it just becomes a little bit more challenging. And I tried to do that and I realised I had to kinda hunker down at home a little bit more. Now, I have a really good balance. Honestly, it's like trial and error."
