The royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — aka the newly dubbed Duke and Duchess of Sussex — will not soon be forgotten. In fact, nearly a week after the couple said "I do," we still can't stop thinking about how magical it really was. From Meghan's Givenchy gown to her Stella McCartney reception dress, she looked amazing. The way she looked into her husband's eyes during the ceremony and how he looked back at her still gives us goosebumps.
Even though it seemed like a dream, this marriage and the amazing day that housed it all was real, and it was beyond memorable. Through Harry and Meghan's actions and the events that took place in Windsor, we noticed that there are numerous things we can take away from the wedding to teach our children. Some of the lessons are obvious while others are more hidden, but either way there are a few things your little ones can take away from such a historic and beautiful event.
1Fairy Tales Can Happen

If there's one thing every child can learn from Meghan and Harry's wedding, it's that fairy tales aren't just for storybooks. They can happen in real life, and, frankly, everyone deserves their own fairy-tale ending, don't you think?

2Simplicity Is Underrated

Meghan's dress was simple, understated, and equally as elegant as that of her now sister-in-law Kate Middleton's iconic lace wedding gown. The former Suits actress proved that simplicity is beautiful and that you don't have to go over the top for your beauty to shine through.

3Sometimes Paving Your Own Way Is the Right Way

Going traditional is great, but putting your own stamp on something is just as wonderful. Take it from Meghan and Harry, who added American touches to the very traditional English ceremony (the gospel choir who sang "Stand By Me," for example). Plus, Harry drove his bride to their reception instead of a royal driver, which proves these two are definitely independent and unique while still respecting English traditions. Kids can learn that they don't have to lose themselves in order to be something.

4Diversity Is So Important

Diversity is key, and we need so much more of it. The good news is that Meghan and Harry's nuptials celebrated diversity in a way we've never seen from the royal family before, from having an African American pastor from Chicago give a homily to Karen Gibson and The Kingdom Choir singing "Stand by Me."

5Families Stick Together

Families come in all different shapes and sizes . . . even if you're royal. When Prince Charles and his wife Camilla welcomed Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, into their family on the wedding day, it was clear that they're now all very close. It was touching and so sweet. Plus, Charles walking Meghan down the aisle was the perfect example that your family is anyone who cares about and loves you.

6Being Friends With an Ex Is Possible

Prince Harry's former girlfriends, Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas, were both in attendance at his big day, because you can be friends with an ex. Kids can learn that when things end, whether that be a future relationship or a friendship, that doesn't mean it has to be on a bad note.

7Respect Your Elders

The main thing we learned (and children can learn) from Meghan's pageboys and bridesmaids is that you should always respect your elders. The kids seemed to have a blast carrying out their roles at the wedding, and they did it while respecting royal rules and the bride.

8Friends Make the Perfect Dates

Friends can be better than significant others in so many ways. Take Abigail Spencer and Priyanka Chopra, who are close friends of the now-Duchess and spent the event without a man or significant other. They hung out with friends and had a blast. Girls' night!

9Chivalry Is Not Dead

Seriously, take notes, little ones! Chivalry is not dead, and treating a woman (or anyone for that matter) with respect is a must. Harry opened the door for his wife on their way to their reception, and it just proved that gentlemen do exist. Thank goodness.

10Kindess Is Key

When Harry and his brother Prince William, aka the Best Man, walked to the church, they included everyone. They waved and thanked the gathered public for coming (as did the bride and groom from their carriage), and it was so sweet. Kindness and kind actions of inclusion are always a good idea.

11Love Can Conquer All

This is the biggest message to remember: love can and will conquer all. The love between Harry and Meghan brought two countries (and many more who watched) together while they united in holy matrimony. It proved once again that love is unconditional and can save the world, no matter how dark it may sometimes seem.
