Michael Bublé opened up about his son's heartbreaking battle with cancer in People's latest cover story [3]. His oldest son, 5-year-old Noah, is in remission from liver cancer; he was diagnosed at just 3 years old. "Listen, I am different," Michael said. "You don't go through big things in your life, dramatic things like I've gone through or my wife has gone through, without it having an effect on you."

The Grammy-winning artist and his wife, actress Luisana Loreley, moved from their home base of Vancouver to California for seven months while Noah received treatment. "Everyone understood in my world what my priority was. We all go through things. You just hope you learn something about yourself and you learn something about the people with you," he continued.

The parents now have three beautiful children, including a daughter named Vida Amber Betty Bublé [5], who was born in July of this year. Explaining that he's got a different perspective after an undoubtedly heartbreaking journey, Michael said, "I don't think I feel very nervous for anything anymore. The perspective that I have on life now allows me to understand that I don't have to sweat the small stuff. I want there to be a purity, and I want there to be a focus on relationships and kindness. I'm spending my time doing things I love and with people I love, for people I love."

You can read the full feature on Michael and his family in the latest issue of People, on newsstands Friday.
