This Adorable Toddler Went to Pick Up Her Military Dad From the Airport — and She Had No Idea

After being deployed for seven months [1], senior airman Ron Durbin was excited to finally reunite with his wife, Alison, and his 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Adalynn, again. As soon as he got off his plane at Rapid City Regional Airport in South Dakota in May of 2017, he had a surprise waiting for him: his wife and toddler [2] holding a hilariously accurate sign. Thankfully, an onlooker caught the interaction on video [3], and our hearts are so full.

Although Alison was definitely counting down the days until she was reunited with her husband, the logistics of picking him up seemed to be lost on Adalynn. But despite not knowing what she was doing at the airport, Alison gave her a sign that read: "I'm here to get my dad just don't know cause I can't read yet!" which pretty much hits the nail on the head.

According to USA Today, Ron was home for a little less than a year before he had to go back for another seven-month-long deployment. He hopes to surprise his daughter again when he returns in the Fall, a week before her fourth birthday.
