Mom's Flyer Asking to Borrow an Orange Cat to Be Garfield

1 Mom Made a Flyer Asking to Borrow a Cat For a "Lasagna Dinner" With Her Kids, and I Love It

Most parents will go to great lengths to make their kids happy come hell or high water. And Clara Edwards, a nurse and mom of two from Oklahoma City, OK, is no exception. Recently, her 2- and 4-year-old kids have become utterly obsessed with Garfield, so in an effort to make their dream of meeting their favourite orange kitty come true, Clara got a little crafty and made a flyer asking to borrow a Garfield-look-a-like from a nearby cat owner. A woman found the it hanging up and posted its contents to Twitter — and now it's gone completely viral.

WANTED: To BORROW an orange cat for 24-48 hours, to have lasagna dinner with Garfield-loving 4-year-old and 2-year-old children. Will return cat happy and cared for. Cat will not be required to eat lasagna if contraindicated. Please, no feral cats. And please take your cat back at the end. Not looking to adopt.

Thank you,
An increasing desperate (but not crazy) mom of two with no friends who own orange cats

The hilarious flyer blew up on social media, amassing 25,000 favourites and nearly 10,000 retweets since it was posted Aug. 1 — and people have been quick to offer up their cats as Garfield stand-ins. Although Clara responded thanking everyone for offering up their orange kitties, the jury is still out as to whether or not she found a four-legged friend. According to her tweet, she'll have an update for us on Saturday night — and we can hardly wait to see who joins them for dinner! Take a peek at some of the best responses to the wanted ad.
