Nikki Reed Quotes on Breastfeeding

Nikki Reed's Poignant Thoughts on Breastfeeding Toddlers Should Be Required Reading

After welcoming her daughter Bodhi Soleil into the world with her husband Ian Somerhalder in July 2017, the former Twilight star has been savouring every single moment of motherhood. Recently, she opened up on Instagram about how she juggles breastfeeding her 19-month-old with everything else going on in her life, and we're all ears.

"As we transition from four feedings a day down to two, I am remembering how important it is to stop what I am doing and enjoy every second of this bonding time," she captioned the photo. "I am reminding myself that my hormones are shifting, and that it's normal to feel weepy as your body regulates through the transition. It goes so fast."

She was also quick to point out how stressful trying to do everything can be. Between breastfeeding and getting all her work done, it's easy to forget to slow down and take in those precious moments.

"Nursing and working usually happen all at once," she explained. "I've got just a few minutes to approve imagery or go through CADs [computer-added designs], so lets do it all at the same time, right? Multitasking is the key to being a working mum, right? Today, I am reminding myself to slow down and separate the two. Today, working and bonding are going to have their own time, so I can try my hardest to soak up every moment, and smile at every detail."

Nikki made a point to remind working mums that taking the time to appreciate the bond they have with their babies is beyond important.

"Even if it's just the nighttime feeding, people can wait and emails will be answered when she's finished," she said. "The sounds, the swallows, where she puts her hand, watching her daydream, because before I know it we will have turned the page."
