Before the school year wraps up, moms and dads often look forward to the extra moments they'll get to spend with their children during the Summer months. However, according to a new survey from OnePoll and Groupon [1], that magic may wear off sooner than we think [2].
The poll surveyed 2,000 parents across the US and found that they're about ready to wrap up Summer break after just 13 days. Furthermore, they discovered that 75 percent of moms and dads are definitely ready for their little ones to go back to the classroom once school starts up again. And parents' biggest stressor by far? Finding things for kids to do while they're off [3]. Fifty-eight percent of those surveyed admitted they struggled to keep their kids entertained over break.
For Brian Fields, Groupon's head of things to do, feeling panicked to find affordable — but fun! — activities [5] to do with the family is perfectly normal.
"Parents love spending time with their kids, but it's totally normal to experience some stress and anxiety when planning all the fun that you're going to have together this Summer," he said. "The parents we interviewed said they've found the most success by not overthinking the situation and turning to affordable activities in their local community."
