Teen’s Graduation Photos With Dad 18 Years Apart

This Teen Posted a Now-and-Then Graduation Photo With Her Dad, and It's Beyond Sweet

When 19-year-old Tori Roach shared a pair of graduation photos in honour of her dad Dennis on Twitter, she had no idea how much attention the post would get. After tweeting two side-by-side pictures — one of the two of them from her high school graduation in 2018 and one of the pair from her father's graduation 18 years prior — the post amassed thousands of favourites and retweets. She captioned the duet of photos "18 years later," and yep, it's one of the cutest things we've seen in a while.

The teen, who graduated from Huntsville High School in Texas in May 2018, said that the attention completely took her by surprise. "I'm from a small town and nothing like that ever happens over here," she told People. "I didn't expect it to blow up like that! Once it started happening, I was like, 'Oh my gosh!' I called my family and I was like, 'Everyone's sharing the pictures!'"

Naturally, it was a little trippy to graduate from the very same high school her dad did 18 years prior. "It was really cool because it was the same place that he graduated from!" said Tori. "For me to be in the same place that he was 18 years before that, it was really cool. It brought me and my dad closer in a way because we could share that moment, and I feel that not many other people get to experience that."

And just in case anyone was getting any ideas, Tori later confirmed that her father is happily taken: "For everyone asking, yes this is my dad, he's 37, and no he isn't single. I have another sibling on the way."

Now, Tori is a student at Sam Houston State University in Houston, TX. She plans to recreate the same photo when she graduates in 2022. "It's in the same town that I was born and raised in," she explained. "When I graduate from Sam Houston, it'll be in the same stadium that I graduated in from high school and the same stadium that he graduated in from high school."
