Tom Brady Men's Health Interview About Kids and Sports

Tom Brady Admitted It Was "Hard" For Him to Accept That His Son Doesn't Like Sports

Tom Brady may be one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play professional football, but his kids don't necessarily feel the same love for the game that he does. In the September issue of Men's Health, the 42-year-old athlete opened up about how it was difficult for him to accept that his son Benny isn't interested in sports. Tom and Gisele Bündchen have a 9-year-old son Benny and a 6-year-old daughter Vivian. He is also a father to 12-year-old son Jack from his previous relationship. In the interview, Tom said that while Jack "loves sports," his son Benny "likes different things."

It was hard for him to accept at first, especially because he assumed if Jack loves sports so much, Benny would as well, but that wasn't the case, and Gisele had to get it into his head that not every child is the same. "Gisele kept saying to me, 'Would you effing understand that your son is different?'" Tom said. "It was hard for me. I was like, 'What do you mean? He's a boy; he should do all these things that I do.' The reality is that Benny just likes different things. And it's great because now I just have to go do what he wants to do. When we do that, we have the best time. He's like, 'OMG, Dad, you're so funny.' He loves joking, and I joke back."

Earlier this year, Tom spoke about his sons' varying interests in sports, adding that Vivian is his biggest cheerleader. It's understandably difficult for a superstar quarterback to accept that his son doesn't love football the same way he does, but it's awesome to see Tom embracing Benny's other interests and creating those memories together outside of sports.
