Jia, a nursing student in the Seattle area, went above and beyond to prove that blood isn't everything this past Father's Day [3]. In a now-viral video posted to Twitter, she captured the moment she and her two sisters told their stepfather that they either took his last name [4] already, or were planning to within the next few days.

"12 years ago, my stepdad brought the light into our world again," wrote Jia in the caption. "He's always loved me and my sister as his own. And so we decided to change our last name this Father's Day. I love you Dad."

Naturally, the sweet video went completely viral overnight, amassing more than 5 million views and over 539,000 retweets so far. And while the cat's reaction was nearly too much to handle, obviously the stepdad's emotional response took the cake. Watch the full video to see the sweet interaction.
