Kate Hudson [1] welcomed her third child, a daughter named Rani Rose [2], on Oct. 2, and three months later, Kate and her mom, Goldie Hawn [3], are opening up about the delivery experience this time around. Goldie was present for Kate's first two births with sons Ryder and Bingham, and during the latter, Goldie caused a few distractions that led her to being "careful" during Rani's birth.
"Last time we were here we told the birthing story of Bing, and I was super pregnant. And now we had Rani, and you were in the room again, and we had a different experience," Kate shared with Ellen DeGeneres [4]'s audience when her and Goldie took over the show for Ellen while she "babysat Rani" (spoiler: it wasn't actually Rani). "Well first of all, I had to ask your permission," Goldie said. "Because the last time I ate too many Doritos in front of you, brought you a lotus and asked you to smell it — which is the worst thing you could do to a pregnant person — and then you asked me to please put down my pizza. You leaned up and went, "Mom, shut up," during one of your contraction pushing things — so I was careful [this time]."
Despite the goings on of Bingham's birth, Kate "of course" wanted her mom in the room with her during Rani's birth, and rather than eating Doritos and pizza this time, Goldie got right in on the birthing action.
"Mom, once again, man, she was right in there," Kate told the audience. "I remember the doctor goes, 'Goldie, you get a little closer you might fall in.'" Goldie added: "I took my cue. I didn't get much closer!
