12 Reasons Taking a Disney Cruise Is More Magical Than Going to the Parks

Walt Disney World [1] is known as the most magical place on earth [2], but I'm here to tell you that while, yes, it's pretty great, there's actually somewhere better. What kind of place could that even be, you ask? A Disney cruise.

Visiting Disney World or Disneyland is always a great time, but with all that fun comes lots of walking, waiting, and the hassle of trying to keep the family together [3] in massive (and usually overheated) crowds. But all of those problems magically disappear when you step on board a Disney cruise ship [4].

A Disney cruise not only takes away a lot of the hassles of travelling (you don't need to plan as much!), but it adds on extra magic with amazing entertainment, a plethora of activities, pretty views, and, oh yeah, around-the-world destinations. Here are 12 reasons why a Disney cruise is the best Disney holiday of them all.

You Have Easy Access to Disney Characters (With Shorter Lines Than in the Park)

If your Disney holiday isn't complete without snapping pics with Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang, rest assured: Disney characters are found all over the ships (and in adorable and constantly changing themed outfits, depending on your cruise destination). Lines tend to be shorter than in the park, and the ship's daily newsletter will tell you when and where to find them.

There Is High-Quality Live Entertainment

The ships offer Broadway-quality shows nearly every night, including productions that are unique to the Disney Cruise Line. Check out Tangled: The Musical, The Golden Mickeys, or Twice Charmed in a plush theatre that's a short walk from your stateroom. Additionally, you'll have plenty of opportunities to see other shows, from magicians and comedians to talented musicians playing all over the ship.

There Are Breathtaking Views

The views alone are reason enough to pick a ship over a park. Watching the land slowly disappear as you sail away from a port at the end of the day is one of the prettiest sights you can see. Even better? You'll never have to fight for a good seat — there's plenty of room all over the ship. It's nothing like elbowing for a good spot to watch the fireworks in the Disney parks (speaking of which, there are fireworks on board, too!).
