Imagine a playroom where kids can be kids and adults can play with them, undistracted by text messages and work emails, Instagram likes, and TikTok videos. That's the premise behind the exclusive 8,000-square-foot members-only family club, The Wonder, located in New York City's eternally hip Tribeca neighbourhood.

The brainchild of Noria Morales, a former POPSUGAR fashion editor and Target marketing executive, and Sarah Robinson, the founder of Preconceive, The Wonder was designed around the concepts of creativity, community, and culture to provide families with an analog space (phones are prohibited in the main space) to spend quality time together. It's a space where children, up to 12 years old, take pop culture-infused classes, play nonelectric games, and get creative — crafting things like slime and buttons — while their parents attend classes with their kids, grab an adult drink in the cafe, or retreat into the parents room to make phone calls, dial into the office, or just relax while their kids are in a supervised activity.

Unlike traditional play spaces, The Wonder was designed by a set designer, so the 1,500-square-foot themed playroom features Noguchi fixtures and Pierre Paulin Osaka couches. The seasonally themed space will transform each quarter. The premiere theme, "Retro Future," celebrates the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, so the space is filled with a "Wonder V" rocket, space helmets, an interactive pong game, and a futuristic play kitchen. The space also includes a book nook curated by The Reading Ninja, a fully stocked nursery with Dyson purifiers and humidifiers, Stokke cribs, and Coterie nappies, and a cafe with a full menu serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily for both kids (think rainbow grilled cheese with sprinkles and Yumi Baby Food) and adults (think adult drinks to pair with the food). A parents-only lounge has telephone booths, a communal work table, and WiFi, while a lounge is outfitted with couches and ottomans to facilitate quiet adult or family time. And, in a stroke of genius, the founders added a stroller detailing corner to the space in partnership with Dyson. While kids are playing, strollers will be vacuumed, cleaned, and returned to pristine condition.

Two classrooms will offer up daily programming for tots, including a baby development class, dough and slime making classes, art classes inspired by the likes of Yayoi Kusama and Jeff Koons, and kid-led classes where older kids will teach younger ones about things like BeyBlades and other trending toys. For adults, the schedule will include Booze and Board Games nights, as well as light saber battles, family craft nights, and Saturday afternoon discos with live DJs. All classes are designed to inspire families in a fun yet relaxing way.

Access to the exclusive club doesn't come cheap. The $450 monthly fee (with a full-year commitment) includes all family members, regardless of the number of kids you have, as well as a caregiver, with most classes and events included in the fee. Read on for an inside look at the posh club.
