Bindi Irwin Chokes Up Talking About Becoming a Mom Without Steve Irwin: "It's Devastating"

Bindi Irwin is honouring her father's legacy in so many ways as a new mom. The wildlife conservationist and her husband, Chandler Powell, have shared their journey as new parents in a Discovery+ special, Crikey! It's a Baby, where Bindi opens up about how difficult it is to start a family without Steve Irwin here. "It's hard knowing that she'll never get to actually meet him, and it's devastating because I'll never get to watch that connection, but I cannot wait to be able to tell beautiful Grace all of these stories about dad, to be able to share with her what an amazing father he was," she said in the one-hour special, which aired April 25.

"It's hard that he's not here because out of everyone in the world, he would've loved her the most. He would've loved her so much," Bindi continued as she choked up. "But I think in a way he is still with us and his heart and soul live on in all of us. He's never really gone."

Bindi and Chandler welcomed Grace Warrior Irwin Powell on March 25, which is, coincidentally, their wedding anniversary. In addition to giving their first child a name that honours the late Crocodile Hunter and both of their relatives, the couple even gave baby Grace her first pair of khakis and introduced her to some animals when she turned 1 month old. They shared the sweet moment on Instagram, writing, "We're so proud of our Wildlife Warrior princess. I know our darling girl is going to grow up caring for Mother Earth and all her animals."

We look forward to seeing how Bindi and Chandler continue to share these special moments with their daughter. Check out the heartwarming video above.
