Bindi Irwin Gave Her "Sweet Baby Girl" a Name That Honours Her Late Father, Steve

Bindi Irwin is a mum! The wildlife conservationist and her husband, Chandler Powell, welcomed their first child on Thursday, 25 March, which serendipitously happened to also be their first wedding anniversary. While introducing their bundle of joy to the world, Bindi explained how they chose a name that honours both her and her husband's relatives, including her late father, Steve Irwin.
"Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light," Bindi wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her family of three. "Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler's family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad." She continued, "There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed."
Meanwhile, Chandler shared the same adorable family photo with his Instagram followers and paired it with a heartfelt caption. "After waiting for you to arrive for the last 9 months, finally meeting you has been the best moment of my life," he wrote. "You have a big life ahead of you and no matter what, you will be surrounded by a whole lot of love. Thank you for gracing your beautiful mother and me on our wedding anniversary, so excited to have you home." They both also included a photo of a onesie from their new Baby Wildlife Warrior collection with the Australia Zoo, which supports wildlife conservation.
Bindi has certainly kept her father's legacy alive since his untimely passing in 2006. Earlier this year, she resurfaced and re-created a touching photo from her parents' pregnancy, and months before that, she had a fan incorporate Steve into a family portrait from her wedding day. We're looking forward to seeing how Bindi and Chandler continue to honour Steve in their everyday lives with their daughter, Grace, by their side.
