Two Brothers Created a Stop-Motion Remake of Toy Story 3 Using Real Toys and People

I don't even have the patience to wait for my food to fully heat up in the microwave, and yet two brothers had the perseverance to create a stop-motion remake of the entire Toy Story 3 [1] movie . . . shot by shot . . . over the span of eight years. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is the definition of patience.

Back when Iowa residents Mason and Morgan McGrew were just 12 and 15 years old respectively, they had the genius idea to reproduce their favourite animated Pixar movie [2] with real toys and people. The result — a one-hour-and-39-minute creative masterpiece — premiered on YouTube on Jan. 25 [3], a whopping eight years after they first started the project. Talk about dedication!

Using computer applications like iMovie, Adobe Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro, and the original audio from the 2010 movie, Mason and Morgan painstakingly posed dolls of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the Toy Story 3 gang in each scene, subtly moving them frame by frame to reenact the action. A quick one- to six-second piece of footage could contain "more than 25 video elements [5]," Mason told Buzzfeed, so yeah, it's pretty understandable it took them so long to perfect the final product. Can someone please get these guys an honourary Oscar for their efforts?
