Ciara is hoping for a better world in which her son [3] can come of age. Amid ongoing nationwide protests sparked by the killing of George Floyd [4] in Minneapolis, MN, on May 25, the singer shared a prayer [5] for her oldest child, 6-year-old Future [6]. "My sweet Baby Boy," she wrote on Instagram. "I pray that when you get older A CHANGE will finally have come!!"
"Enough is Enough!"
Ciara continued: "I'm going to keep my FAITH! I'm praying that the losses of our Black Kings and Queens won't be in vain. Enough is Enough! I'm praying for UNITY!" She added, "I'm praying for the powers that be to unite and decide that it's time for a change!"
Many other celebrities and public figures have called for justice and spoken out against police brutality over the past few days, including Barack Obama [8], Michelle Obama [9], and Beyoncé, who recently said in a video [10], "We need justice for George Floyd. We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We're broken and we're disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain."
