Dad Built Mini Disneyland Using 60,000 Legos: "My Wife and I Don't Talk About How Much It Costs"

Think completing a few 1,000-piece puzzles during your time at home was impressive? Then you'll be flabbergasted by the results of this dad's shelter-in-place project: to build a miniature version of the Disneyland theme park using more than 60,000 Lego bricks.

An avid Lego fan, John Wayne Daugherty decided to bring the most magical place on earth to his dining room when his family's summer holiday plans to visit the park were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

John, who has a YouTube channel dedicated to his Lego projects, constructed Cinderella's Castle, Main Street USA, Marvel Land, and several rides, including a merry-go-round, carousel, and rollercoaster.

"My wife and I don't talk about how much it costs," he joked in an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show. "We don't discuss that. Also, I have to limit it or I'll go bankrupt."

As impressive as the finished product is, John admitted it pales in comparison to the real-life amusement park. So, does that mean he'll be taking it all apart at some point?

Unclear, he said: "You think [my wife] Bonnie is going to let me keep this in the dining room like this forever? We'll see."
