Doug Emhoff and Kamala Harris Celebrate Ella's Graduation: "We Are Such Proud Parents"
Congrats are in order for Ella Emhoff! On Friday, the vice president's stepdaughter graduated from The New School's Parsons School of Design in New York. Her fashion career is already well on its way, but the diploma she received marks an awesome educational achievement that her dad, Doug Emhoff, and stepmom, Kamala Harris, were overjoyed to witness.
"My darling Ella, we are such proud parents! We love you so much, and are very much looking forward to all you do in the future," Doug wrote on Instagram with a photo from Ella's graduation. "And, to the other Class of 2021 graduates out there, huge congratulations!" Kamala echoed his sentiments in her own post. "Congratulations to our daughter Ella on her graduation. I am so proud of you. Keep dreaming with ambition and there is nothing you cannot achieve," she wrote, signing off, "Love, Momala."
Doug shares both Ella, 22, and son Cole, 26, with his ex-wife Kerstin Emhoff (née Mackin). Before the inauguration, the Emhoff kids opened up to the New York Times about their blended family, and admitted they're "still getting used to" the media attention. Their extended family is full of "the most confident, strong personality people, a lot of them being women," and Ella is certainly making her own mark on the world, following in those footsteps.
