Gisele Bündchen Doesn’t Like Being Called a Stepmom, and Her Reasoning Is So Sweet

02/03/2020 - 04:29 PM

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen share three kids [1]; and even though Gisele is the biological mom of their two youngest, Benjamin and Vivian, the model doesn't like the term "stepmother" when it comes to Tom's 12-year-old son, Jack. In an Instagram Stories Q and A session with her followers on Feb. 27, the mom of three elaborated.

"I don't like the word 'stepmom,'" Gisele said of Jack, who Tom shares with actress Bridget Moynahan. "I use the word 'bonus mom' because I feel like it's a blessing in my life. I feel so lucky that I get to have an extra wonderful little angel in my life." So sweet!

Another follower later asked, "How do you manage family time when you and Tom are so busy?" and Gisele gave insight into how their family of five is able to operate so smoothly. "I don't think there's a secret recipe," she said. "I think we just try our best to be present with the kids when we are with the kids, and be fully there with them, really listening to them. It's not so much the amount of time, I think it's the quality of time."

Addressing the second part of the comment, which read, "Your kids look so happy!" she added: "I think what's really important as well is the energy that is around the children . . . When they see we are constantly giving them kisses and hugs, and they really see how much we love each other and how much we support each other — we never raise our voices, we never have arguments, we just talk things over if we have any issues — I think . . . the energy of the house is really loving and safe."
