Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma Talk About Blended Family

Hilary Duff Recalls When Her Son Luca Realised Stepdad Matthew Koma Was His "Best Friend"

Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma make pretty awesome parents, and their love story is equally as sweet. Before they became a family of five, they were two friends who couldn't stay away from each other. Once they decided to give dating a try, Hilary brought her son, Luca, to meet Matthew in an incredibly adorable way.

Hilary shares now 9-year-old Luca with her ex-husband Mike Comrie. Although Matthew called their introduction "very casual" in a People interview, Hilary recalls the story as a precious moment between Luca and his future stepdad. "Matt was coming trick-or-treating with us and he was dressed as full-blown Donatello the Ninja Turtle," she said. "Luca was like, 'You're going to be my best friend.'"

"He's such a great kid and he's so sensitive that it was really easy to connect with him," Matthew continued. "It was almost like an instantaneous like, 'Oh, we kind of speak the same language,' and can sit with each other in weird silence and that wasn't weird and can also find things to bond on."

The Duff-Koma family grew even more when they welcomed Banks in 2018 and Mae earlier this year. Hilary knew Matthew would be an "amazing dad right out the gate" because of "how he was with Luca." Both Hilary and Matthew are very proud of their sweet blended bunch and know they've "crushed the parent game together." We have to agree!
