Allyson Felix is still the most decorated Olympian in women's track and field history after the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, and while she's a joy to watch in competition, we can't get enough of seeing her with her daughter, whom she shares with her husband, Kenneth Ferguson.
However, the path to becoming a mother wasn't an easy one for Allyson. The Olympian has opened up about her traumatic emergency C-section birth at just 32 weeks gestation due to preeclampsia, and has since become a fierce advocate for Black maternal health.
"The biggest part for pregnant women is knowing the risks. Black women, especially, are almost four times as likely to face complications or even death during delivery," Allyson told POPSUGAR in August 2020. "One of the big things that I struggled with was not knowing what signs to look for when I had a severe case of preeclampsia."
In December 2020, Allyson shared that while her then-focus was on the Tokyo Olympic Games, she "would love to have more children." She told People, "Definitely in the future I would love to grow our family." But for now, it's all about her firstborn!
