Love Is Love: Add These 43 LGBTQ+ Books to Your Kids' Bookshelves

04/06/2021 - 01:25 PM

No matter your child's personal experiences and connections, it's important to fill their bookshelves with diverse stories [1] that can help to teach them about inclusion and the lives of those who are both different and similar to them. Although Pride Month [2] is celebrated in June, stories about the LGBTQ+ community should be told and shared all year long.

Ahead, shop a bunch of LGBTQ+ books available for toddlers and young kids [3], which all tell stories that prove love is love and that diversity is beautiful.

From Archie to Zack

What It's About: "'Archie loves Zack!' 'Zack loves Archie!' Everyone said it was so. But Archie hasn't told Zack yet. And Zack hasn't told Archie. They spend just about every minute together: walking to and from school, doing science and art projects, practicing for marching band, learning to ride bikes, and so much more.

Over the course of a few months, Archie tries to write a letter to Zack to tell him how he feels: 'From A to Z.' None of his drafts sound quite right, so he hides them all away. One by one, Archie's friends (Zelda, Zinnia, and Zuzella) find the letters . . . but they know exactly whom they're meant for."

A flower or a shooting star? At school, though, they must endure inquisitive looks and difficult questions from the other children, and they have trouble finding friends who will accept them for who they are.
