On 16 March, in a candid Instagram post, Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson opened up about her pregnancy loss [3] with her partner, personal trainer Ryan Libbey, who she has been engaged to for two years. "I wanted to share my story because it might help someone, but for the first time in my life, I'm actually a bit lost for words," she captioned a photo of her small bump and a positive pregnancy test.

In the post, Louise wrote about her personal experience and reflected on why the subject of pregnancy loss still appears to be a taboo one. "Earlier this year I had a miscarriage, we lost our baby and it was really bloody tough. Some of you will already be familiar with how common they are (1 in 4 pregnancies), but for me it came as a total shock," Louise said. "In all honesty, I had no idea that it was possible to love someone that I'd never met quite so much. From the moment I saw the lines on the pregnancy test, I started to build an emotional connection and my whole world changed, and for that to be taken away was devastating," she added. "Losing a baby in pregnancy through miscarriage or stillbirth still seems to be a taboo subject that is linked to a certain amount of stigma and shame, and I really wish that would change. The whole business of fertility can be a rough and overwhelming ride — if you know, you know, but you are not and will never be alone."

Louise ended her honest post by saying, "it just wasn't meant to be, and hopefully, it will create space for something beautiful in the future," and highlighting some amazing charity work and support from the Miscarriage Association [4] and Tommys [5]. The post received a huge outpouring of love and support from her friends and fans. Read Louise's full post and message on her Instagram, which is continued in the comments.
