We already know baby Archie likes to hop on Meghan Markle's Zoom business calls [2] every once in a while, but it looks like the 1-year-old has had a bigger effect on Meghan's approach to work than we realised. During an in-depth interview with Fortune [3] as part of its Most Powerful Next Gen Summit, Meghan revealed that being a mother to baby Archie [4] has inspired her to be more courageous as a leader. More than that, Meghan said that motherhood has influenced her to actively want to make the world a better place.

"I wouldn't be able to feel proud of myself as a mom if I didn't know that I wasn't doing my part to make it a better place for him."

"It's interesting, because my gut is that [motherhood] makes you more courageous," Meghan said when asked how motherhood has affected her leadership role as a public figure. "It makes you so concerned for the world they are going to inherit, right? And so, the things that you're able to tolerate on your own are not the same that you are going to put your child in a position of vulnerability for. [I] go every single day, 'How can I make this better for him? How can I make this world better for Archie?' And that is a shared belief between my husband and I."

To that effect, the Duchess of Sussex also explained that she's cautious of putting her family at risk by being selective about the topics she chooses to discuss publicly, but adds that topics like exercising your right to vote are too important to ignore. "And, to that point, as a parent, I can enjoy all the fun and silliness and games with my son, but I wouldn't be able to feel proud of myself as a mom if I didn't know that I wasn't doing my part to make it a better place for him," she said.
