Mom's Funny Video on Talking About Back-to-School Decisions

This Mom's Video on Making "School Decisions" Is Every Adult Conversation I'm Having Right Now

Back to School Decisions are Hard

Every adult conversation I'm having right now...

Posted by The Holderness Family on Tuesday, July 28, 2020

For the past few weeks, I've had one conversation — and one conversation only. And it starts a little something like this:

"What are you doing about school?"
"What's your plan for school?"
"So, what do you think you'll do about school?"

With "back-to-school season" (ha!) rapidly approaching and school districts around the nation tentatively offering up "options" that all feel equally impossible (no, I don't want my kids at home with me full-time! no, I don't want to send my kids to school during a pandemic!), mom of two Kim Holderness created a hilariously realistic video montage of what her own school-related conversations have looked like lately.

Just as so many of us have polled every parent on every Zoom happy hour, Kim too has solicited the advice of fellow moms, as well as her FedEx delivery person . . . and her woefully unhelpful dog.

Unfortunately for me (and most of you, too), this video doesn't get us any closer to a decision (news flash! there's no right answer!), it should certainly make us feel a little less alone as we struggle to decide if we are going to do the "early-out late-in opt clause" or, you know, if "we'll sign up for C and downshift to B or maybe sign up for A?"

At the end of the video, Kim's message to parents is clear: "I feel you, whatever decision you make is the right one." Or is it the wrong one?! Gah!
