Netflix's The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia Trailer

Netflix’s New Latinx Show Features a 15-Year-Old Female Rocket Scientist

Most teenagers have a lot on their plates, sure, but for 15-year-old genius Ashley Garcia, the leading lady of Netflix's newest Latinx series, The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, life is a little bit different than your average teen. Ashley (Paulina Chávez), who started college at age 9 and is the youngest person to ever earn a PhD, just scored a job in California making robots for NASA — casual! Because she's spent her whole life in intensive schooling, the young robotics engineer and rocket scientist hasn't experienced a lot of the usual things teens go through, like having crushes and going to parties.

The new series, which was cocreated by Mario Lopez, navigates Ashley's new life in California — she moves in with her uncle Victor, a high school football coach who doesn't have the slightest clue how to be a parent — and the new experiences she faces as both a teenager and a young woman with an epic career.
