Sia Confirms She Adopted 2 Teens From Foster Care in 2019

Sia Confirmed She's a Mum to a Pair of 19-Year-Old Boys She Adopted From Foster Care

Sia is opening up about her life as a mum. On an episode of SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up, the 44-year-old singer confirmed that she adopted two 18-year-old boys who were ageing out of foster care in 2019.

"I actually adopted two sons last year. They were 18 . . . they're both 19 years old now," she shared. "They were ageing out of the foster care system. Yeah, and I love them."

When asked how her sons are handling social distancing, she candidly shared that it's been a little bit of a struggle. "They are both finding it pretty difficult, one more so than the other," she explained. "But they're both doing things that are really good for them right now, that are really helpful. They're really doing a lot of educational stuff that's good for them."

Although Sia is officially confirming the adoptions of her two sons now, a January GQ interview with Diplo revealed that she had adopted at least one of her boys at press time. Sia publicly spoke about her desire to adopt in May 2019, when she tweeted at the makers of HBO's documentary, Foster, saying that she'd be willing to adopt a 16-year-old boy who was in the film. "Hey Dasani from Foster on HBO! I'd like to adopt you we're just trying to find you and get my house check done etc," she wrote in the now-deleted tweet. "But I want you to know you will have a home with me."
