Vice Principal Writes Letter to the Tooth Fairy For Student

Shandee Whitehead, a vice principal at Hart Elementary School in Prince George, British Columbia, vouched for one of her students when he lost his tooth in class and was unable to find the missing incisor. Rather than telling 5-year-old Gavin's guardian about the lost tooth and calling it a day, Shandee went above and beyond, writing a formal letter to the Tooth Fairy to make sure that all of Gavin's bases were covered.
"Today one of Gavin's [teeth] fell out while he was getting ready to eat lunch," reads the letter, which Shandee shared to Twitter. "Unfortunately it was lost in the classroom, and despite the heroic efforts of a fearless search team, we were unable to recover it. As a trained Vice Principal and hobby dentist, I can verify that there is definitely a gap in Gavin's teeth that was not there this morning when he came in. Please accept this letter as official verification of a lost tooth and provide the standard monetary exchange rate you normally use for a real tooth."
Shandee encouraged the Tooth Fairy to contact her with any questions or concerns and signed off the letter. However, though the note was on Gavin's behalf, the vice principal didn't leave it there — she added a postscript.
"PS — I am still waiting for the money for my wisdom teeth from 2000. Please pay as soon as possible. I have bills to pay."

Shandee shared the full letter to Twitter, writing: "A VP has the duty of helping to create a positive school culture . . . one that saves the day!" And as it turns out, she did save the day for Gavin. "When I woke up in the morning, the tooth fairy actually did come," he told CBC's Radio West. "I got the coin . . . It was a gold and silver one."
And while everything worked out for Gavin, there's some sad news for Shandee and all of the other adults waiting on their wisdom tooth money from the Tooth Fairy. The Twitter account "Special Fairy Letters" responded to Shandee's tweet with an attached photo of letters written to both Gavin and Shandee — and the vice principal's didn't have great news. "I would also like to acknowledge your comment about your wisdom tooth," the note reads. "Although we are incredibly happy to hear that you still believe in fairies, quite rightly too, sadly we are unable to leave monetary gifts for teeth once the age of 18 yrs is obtained."
