Given the year we've all had, the last thing we need is more stress. And no offence to Elf on the Shelf [2], but the beloved holiday tradition just might fall into that category. Fortunately, a nurse named Jenne Lynn is buying parents a little time [3] thanks to a handy video she recorded and shared on Facebook. In the clip, Jenne Lynn explains that because we have to be especially cautious amid COVID-19, your little ones' Elf on the Shelf might start up their antics a little later than usual.

"We've been pretty busy here at the North Pole checking our elf friends to make sure they don't have any signs or symptoms of illness," she said. "We've been able to get to quite a few of them, so they should be arriving today, while the rest of them still to be checked out."

Although some children may have to wait to see what mischief their elf has drummed up, Jenne Lynn offered up some ideas for kiddos to do in the meantime, like reading to them for 20 minutes each day, dancing, singing, and telling them jokes. Any parent who is trying to nail down their new routine when it comes to this holiday tradition should show their little believers this video ASAP. And if you're feeling stuck, check out this list of creative Elf on the Shelf ideas to get started [5]!
