You Can Explore (and Camp in) the Creepy, Abandoned Set From This Tim Burton Film
In Tim Burton's Big Fish, the fictional town of Spectre is portrayed as a blue-skied, sleepy community where, astonishingly, nobody wears shoes. "I agreed to spend the afternoon, if only to understand the mystery of how a place could feel so strange and yet so familiar," describes protagonist Ed Bloom of the Alabama town where he finds love and unravels the mysteries of his life. And you can find out if Spectre feels strange yet familiar to you, too, because the now-abandoned set of the fantastical film was never torn down.
Located near Montgomery, Alabama, in the USA, the hauntingly gorgeous town of Spectre sits on a large island property wherein visitors can explore, camp, and get in touch with their inner big fish for a nominal fee of about £2 (and permission from the owners, of course). One Tumblr user detailed instructions for reaching the set on her blog, so if you ever find yourself near Montgomery, you won't have to travel through a haunted forest to see Spectre.
