You Won't Believe These Gorgeous Hotels Cost Under £100 a Night

04/08/2019 - 02:05 PM

When the midweek blues set in and it seems like pay day (and Summer) are still miles away, a quick getaway seems impossible, never mind all of those alternative destinations [1] you put on your 2019 travel bucket list [2]. But what if you could find somewhere perfect to go on holiday that didn't break the bank? We've scoured the globe for the very best hotels that come in at under £100 a night. These budget boutique hotels really tap into the millennial lifestyle, offering beautiful settings and cool amenities for much less than you'd expect. OK, your room might be smaller than average (you won't notice if your bed is comfy) and you might not get the best breakfast (just go to the bakery on the corner), but these places will satisfy anyone's wanderlust. If you want luxury, you usually have to pay for it, but not in the case of these gorgeous hotels. Pick your favourite, and grab your passport — there's an adventure to be had.

Brody House, Budapest, Hungary

Brody House [3] is one of Europe's most popular hotels, with good reason. First up, it's superbeautiful with bright and charming rooms that don't lose the character of the building. The hotel also supports the local art communities, so you'll probably find a new exhibition happening while you're staying. Finally, it's incredibly affordable, with some rooms costing as little as £65 a night.

Atelier sul Mare, Castel di Tusa, Sicily

Along the north coast of Sicily, a couple of hours from Palermo airport, is a perfect little art hotel on its own tiny stretch of beach. Atelier sul Mare [4] may not be as glitzy as some on the list, but it's affordable (around £80 a night in low season), and the art rooms are innovative and exciting (such as the hammam room pictured, which comes with its own spa bath). There's also an art gallery and dozens of sculptures dotted around the hotel to explore.

Villa Seminyak, Seminyak, Bali

Under £100 for your own gorgeous lagoon villa in Bali [5]? Count us very much in, Villa Seminyak [6]. You bet we're going straight from pillows to pool at this incredible resort, where lagoon villas start at around £60 per night, and even deluxe two-bedroom villas can cost as little as £110 a night (split with friends, and you're quids in).

Nerva Boutique Hotel, Rome, Italy

We're all for a little bit of luxury, but when we visit a new city, we often spend more time out and about than we do ordering room service, so a good location is top of our list of priorities above creature comforts. Luckily, Nerva Boutique Hotel [7] offers the best of both. It's brilliantly located in the historic centre, it's chic, and it's only £88 a night.

Yurbban Trafalgar, Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona actually does a good line in affordable hotels, but of course we're choosing the one with a pool on the roof terrace. Yurbban [8] will only set you back £68 a night, and imagine how good your holiday photos will be?

Max Brown Hotel Ku'damm, Berlin, Germany

There are Max Brown hotels [9] dotted around Europe, but the Berlin offering is the the most affordable, located in what they describe as a "relaxed residential neighbourhood" that allows escape from the busy city. If you're looking for Instagrammable design with your fluffy pillows, then book your weekend break here.

Paradise Road The Villa. Bentota, Sri Lanka

Find your own slice of tropical paradise in Sri Lanka for as little as £70 a night at Paradise Road The Villa Bentota [10], which has two large pools you can make your base during a relaxing trip. Make sure you stock up on swimsuits [11] and brilliant books [12] before you go.

The Publishing House, Chicago, USA

Despite the very reasonable price tag (some rooms are as low as £70 per night), The Publishing House [13] is one of the chicest hotels in Chicago. Book midweek if you want to avoid any weddings: this hotel is understandably a bride and groom magnet.

Cahal Pech Village, Cayo, Belize

We never could resist a hidden oasis, and Cahal Pech [14] is no exception, offering views down over the river valley, a stunning pool, and the option to book canopy tours or visit the nearby Mayan ruins. The most affordable rooms are fewer than £90 a night, so we're going to be staying a while.

Artist Residence, Various locations in the UK

There are a handful of Artist Residence [15] hotels around the UK. We love the one in Penzance, but you'll find ones in Brighton and Oxford, too. Whichever you pick, you're getting a total bargain full of unique features and decor. You can even choose to set up home in a self-catered apartment, too.

Freehand Hotel, New York, USA

A gorgeous hotel in New York for under £100? It is possible! Rooms at the Freehand Hotel [16] near Madison Square tend to teeter around the £100 mark, but bide your time, and they'll dip, which means you get a brilliant hotel and location with enough money left over for all of the deli sandwiches and pizza slices you could want.

Hotel Bienvenue, Paris, France

You would certainly be forgiven for thinking that Hotel Bienvenue [17] in Paris costs a lot more than £95 a night, but get a deal, and you can stay at this beautiful hotel for a steal. That £5 we've got left in our pocket is going to croissants, obviously.

Tribe Hotel, Perth, Australia

Let's be honest: at Perth's Tribe Hotel [18], it's all about the gorgeous views rather than a spacious room. Your room may be a little compact, but you'll still get a brilliant night's sleep — travellers liked the beds so much that the hotel now sells them, so you can re-create your holiday experience in your own home.

Escarabajo Rojo, Tulum, Mexico

Escarabajo Rojo [19] in Mexico's Tulum is a little like living in a tropical jungle but without having to rough it, and we're 100 percent on board. Your private hut doesn't have a TV, but you certainly won't miss it with such beautiful surroundings. Prices start at £55 a night, and yes, there is a pool!
