I Stayed at AutoCamp Yosemite, and It Was Amazing

I Spent the Weekend at AutoCamp Yosemite, and Camping Will Never Be the Same

My fiancé and I are both originally from New Mexico (we now live in California), and since we loving camping, I decided to surprise him for his birthday with a recent trip to AutoCamp Yosemite. We had no idea what we were in for, as this wasn't traditional camping — it was more like "glamping" — and now I don't think I can ever go back. Nestled in the Midpines, you'll find AutoCamp Yosemite full of custom airstreams, modern cabins, and luxury tents. Each one is uniquely different and they range in price from $199 to $399 per night, and all offer a special experience. You'll also find spa-inspired bathrooms, kitchens, private patios, and campfires at all sites that are thoughtfully designed.

To say that AutoCamp Yosemite completely exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. Aside from its prime location near Yosemite, we were also able to stay in a charming airstream and not have to worry the typical camping tasks. There are so many outdoor activities to choose from while you're there, but if hiking isn't your forte, you can still have a blast. Just pack some cosy clothes, a book, and relax in the memory foam mattress and comfy robe that's provided for you. Also included? All the cutlery, cast iron skillets, and grilling utensils you'll need to make the best meals.

If you've been toying with the idea of staying at AutoCamp Yosemite or are just hearing about it for the first time, keep reading for 14 reasons it's absolutely worth a trip.

1. You Can Bike Around the Property

The property is bigger than what you might expect, and AutoCamp provides complimentary bikes to cruise around on.

Even though it may be chillier than most months and the pool might be a little bit of a struggle to soak in, visiting AutoCamp in the Fall guarantees you'll see some amazing Fall foliage.

No matter where you look (seriously, no matter where), you'll have to pinch yourself from the beauty of it all.

The airstreams are not just placed anywhere — instead, each one is carefully placed along the roads, pond, and landscaping so that you don't feel cramped or too close to other guests.

The inside of each airstream is identical and extremely charming. Everything from the light fixtures to the decor is modern and clean, which lets the beauty of the nature around you really shine.

There's so much to do outdoors at AutoCamp, but if you're in the mood to just sit and have some coffee or a beer, you can check out the clubhouse (you're also greeted with a cocktail here when you first arrive). In addition to coffee and a shop with necessities like food, wine, and toiletries, the clubhouse houses games and a cosy fire.

There really is so much to do on the actual property that you never have to leave. Take a dip in the pool, grill outside of your airstream, go for an afternoon walk, read a book in a hammock, or sit in the heated outdoor chairs that are seriously the coziest!

The "Wash Your Spirit Clean" neon sign as you leave the clubhouse is the perfect spot for an Instagram photo.

Each airstream has their own fire pit, outdoor table, and grill. We made each one of our meals over the fire, which was delicious if you come prepared (we prepped fajitas, breakfast food, steaks, and hot dogs). The clubhouse provides wood, charcoal, and a fire starter if you need it.

If you have a dog, bring them! AutoCamp is seriously dog heaven, and our dog loved it. They even provided us with an extra dog bowl, blanket, and treats when we checked in.

Did I mention that the pool is heated?! After a long hike or afternoon nap, the pool is everything you'll need to make this experience perfect.

Is a camping trip even complete without s'mores?! If you didn't have the chance to grab all of the fixings, the clubhouse shop has got you covered.

Our trip was to celebrate my fiancé's birthday, and the AutoCamp staff left a box of s'mores supplies and a sweet birthday note in our airstream. The customer service is the best!

AutoCamp has many different locations, with Yosemite being one of the newer ones. Visit the Russian River under the Redwoods or the Santa Barbara location minutes away from the beach and Santa Ynez Mountains.

Sometimes it's hard to take a time out from the business of our everyday lives, but AutoCamp lets you take a deep breath and get back to the simple things (the only thing I worried about was keeping my coffee warm in the mornings). While I loved sharing the experience with my fiancé, AutoCamp can absolutely be enjoyed for a solo trip to reconnect with yourself. You meet new people, get out in nature, and truly have the best time.
