Purple Royal Seat Cushion For Hard Chairs Review

I Love This Purple Seat Cushion While Working From Home, 'Cause I Don't Diss Comfort

When it comes to home decor choices, I am fully willing to admit I usually opt for form over function. (Unless it's my bed, where I prefer a cloud-like feel, even if the down comforter, feather topper, and linen sheets give it a disheveled, puffy look.) But that design-driven taste definitely won out when it comes to my office, as one of my more memorable splurges was on the Ghost Chair I'd always coveted. Yes, it is essentially just a plastic seat, but I love the way it looks . . . and told myself the clear colour would take up less visible space in my small room, too.

But then, 2020 hit. Before this year, I worked from home about two days per month, max. Maybe I was still in the honeymoon phase, yet I don't remember giving the chair's feeling much thought until we became even better acquainted.

As soon as I began sitting there all week long, I knew this chair wouldn't do. At first, I swapped in one of my (slightly padded) dining chairs — better, not great — before a random conversation with friends finally shone a bright light on my new hero, the Purple cushion. Come along on this journey ahead, and see why I don't diss comfort any longer.

The Chair Named For a King Meets a Cushion Meant For a Queen (Me)

During one of the many Zoom happy hours common in the early days of social distancing, a group of friends and I were discussing our favourite quarantine purchases thus far. One answered without hesitation: a Purple seat cushion. Admittedly, I'd heard of this brand only for mattresses, but right after we hung up, I checked out the site and was officially sold myself.

In just a few days, my Louis Ghost Chair by Kartell ($326, originally $465) — named for the classic Louis XVI armchair — had a noble companion in a Purple Royal Seat Cushion ($79). Not only is it barely noticeable when my throne is slid under the desk, but sitting on it is also worlds apart from that bumpy past. Now I can't imagine life without it, and if I ever return to an office, I'm definitely picking up the desk-chair version.

Ahead, see all the available Purple cushions, including ones meant for cars and planes.
