Not a Big Star Wars Fan? Here's What All the Lingo at Disney's Galaxy's Edge Means

Batuu is the planet you'll find yourself on when you travel to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. It's also a planet we've never seen before in any of the Star Wars films. Disney Imagineers wanted all visitors, even those not well-versed in Wookie, to feel at home while on their journey (although Batuu is now being integrated into current Star Wars stories). While the planet may be unfamiliar, you'll find all manner of familiar humans, aliens, and droids as you wander the streets of Batuu.

Also new even to Star Wars fans is Black Spire Outpost (though also being integrated into newer stories), it's the village you'll explore during your time on Batuu. The planet of Batuu is home to many tall, petrified tree trunks, the largest of which is darker and found right in the centre of the village, hence the name Black Spire Outpost.

In the current Star Wars movie trilogy, the First Order has picked up where the Empire left off. With Kylo Ren – you know, the one who casually pushed his own father, Han Solo, to his death – at the helm, the First Order hopes to wipe out the last of the Resistance fighters (a.k.a the good guys). As you travel through Galaxy's Edge, you'll find First Order Stormtroopers patrolling the area and may encounter Kylo Ren himself.

Even if you're not a die-hard Star Wars fan, you're probably at least a little bit familiar with some of the more memorable characters like Luke, Leia, and Han Solo. With the First Order trying to take control of the galaxy, Princess Leia (now a general) organised a small group of military forces in an attempt to fend off their pursuit for power. While visiting Galaxy's Edge, you may catch a glimpse of Rey and other resistance fighters and even get the chance to pet Chewbacca's luxurious fur.

Known to some as "the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy," the Millennium Falcon was piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca throughout many of the Star Wars films. The Falcon has taken a detour to Batuu and is currently on loan to Hondo Ohnaka, however, so he can utilise it for a few smuggling runs in exchange for the parts Han and Chewie need to repair their damaged ship.

You'll find Dok-Ondar hard at work inside of his shop, Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities. His shop is filled with intergalactic treasures such as light sabers, kyber crystals, and Jedi cloaks. You can also pick up more practical items here, but why would you want to?

Aurebesh is the written language of Batuu and you'll see it used on signage throughout Galaxy's Edge. If you're not down to learn a new language before your trip, cast members will be happy to direct you to your desired location, or you can use the Play Disney Parks app on your datapad (Galaxy's Edge speak for mobile device) to help translate.

Oga Garra is the proprietor of Oga's Cantina, the best stop for out-of-this-world drinks and treats on the Outer Rim. Also a known crime boss (easily forgiven when you get a taste of one of her creative concoctions), Oga's establishment is open to smugglers, bounty hunters, and, you know, thirsty families from all corners of the galaxy. The highlight of a visit to Oga's, outside of the mouth-numbing Fuzzy Tauntaun, is hearing DJ R-3X spin some intergalactic tunes in the DJ booth.

While they may look like earthlings, the inhabitants (Disney cast members) of Batuu are, well, aliens. Some of their lingo may seem strange, so we put together this handy primer.

You may hear them use the greeting "Bright suns" during the day, which is replaced by "Rising moons" in the evening. You are, of course, encouraged to use these phrases, too, if you want to immerse yourself in the experience. Similarly, "'Til the Spire" or "May the spires keep you," can be used to bid farewell.

If you're looking for the bathroom, you'll want to ask for the "refresher" and water fountains are known as "hydrators."

If you really want to get into character, engage a member of the Resistance with the greeting, "Ignite the Spark." Just don't tell a Stormtrooper, "May the Force be with you," or you may end up a prisoner of the First Order.
