I Installed a Tushy Bidet in My Bathroom, and All It Took Was 10 Minutes and a Screwdriver

02/04/2021 - 07:00 PM

As the saying goes, you don't know what you're missing until it's gone . . . but what about something you've actually missed that you didn't even know because it hadn't arrived? That's how I feel about my toilet-seat bidet, aka my favourite thing in my entire bathroom [1] now. Sure, I've travelled extensively in Europe [2] where standalone bidets are the norm, and I have a few fancy friends with high-tech toilets themselves, so the concept was nothing new. But I can't exactly fit an actual bidet [3] in my New York City apartment, or spend $1,500+ on a state-of-the-art Toto [4].

When I discovered there was something in between I could easily buy online, I knew I needed to check it out. Even if you aren't sure a bidet is for you, don't knock it until you've tried it because I'm personally never going to poo-poo this concept ever again.

Ahead, read my thoughts on the Tushy 3.0 [5], a bidet installed by moi in less than 10 minutes' time.

Tushy Spa 3.0 Warm-Water Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (Bamboo or Platinum)

The updated Tushy Spa 3.0 Warm-Water Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment [7] ($119, originally $149) comes with bamboo or platinum-coloured knobs, and can be hooked up to the warm-water supply right under your sink.

Tushy Classic 3.0 Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (Bamboo)

This model of Tushy Classic 3.0 Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment [8] ($99) is thinner than the original classic versions, seen here with a bamboo knob. All the 3.0 models automatically self-clean the spray nozzle between each use.

Tushy Classic 3.0 Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (Platinum)

There's also the thinner Tushy Classic 3.0 Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (Platinum) [9] ($99) with the silvery knob instead, which is more fingerprint-resistant as compared to the original with platinum knobs.

Tushy Classic Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (White/Bamboo Knob)

The part of the Tushy that goes under the toilet seat lid is a bit thicker with this older Tushy Classic Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (White/Bamboo Knob) [10] ($89). You'll also see that you have to turn the knob on this version to "nozzle wash" when you want to clean that part.

Tushy Classic Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (White/Silver Knob)

This older model of Tushy Classic Bidet Toilet-Seat Attachment (White/Silver Knob) [11] ($79) also has a slightly thicker base and requires manual nozzle washing by turning the knob all the way to the left.
