Receiving presents is one of the best parts of the holidays, but opening presents . . . well, that's another story. It doesn't matter your age, your fine motor skills, or even what's in the box — opening presents is a daunting task. Do you open gently from the corners? Do you rip open frivolously from the centre? It's a tough choice, but gift receivers (myself included) will truly do whatever it takes to get that thing open. Thankfully, one TikTok user has saved the day with an incredibly simple wrapping-paper hack that makes opening presents just so much easier, and all you need is some tape.
Lennia, also known as @lenniamc on social media, is a folding extraordinaire, and after one look at her account, we're ready to transform our closets and our holiday presents. Now, about those gifts . . . her DIY wrapping-paper hack saves the time and mess of ripping open presents, and there's not an ounce of frustration involved. Here's how it's done:
- Using any kind of tape, stick a piece on the inside of the wrapping paper before putting down your present.
- Leave a bit of the tape hanging off the piece of wrapping paper edge, and fold the end over so it can act as a lever for opening.
- Wrap the present as usual, and make sure the end with the tape sticking out is on top.
- Voila! Gift-opening made easy.
Someone in the comments section of the TikTok also said that you can use a piece of ribbon as an alternative option and have it stick out of the centre of the package to help with opening. Enjoy!
