Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky, are expecting their second child! A rep for the couple confirmed the happy news to People on Wednesday. Chris and Elsa are already parents to a 1-year-old daughter, India Rose. Chris recently gushed about his little one while doing press for Thor: the Dark World, saying, "She's the best!" Promoting the superhero sequel has required a lot of travel for Chris, who also said that his growing daughter "makes it harder and harder to leave and go to work. I enjoy being at home a lot more than I ever have." Congrats to the couple!
Just in case you needed one more reason to love Tom Hiddleston, we found nearly 30. Tom has been popping up all over the world over the past few weeks, as he's been doing press ahead of the Friday release of Thor: The Dark World. Most recently, Tom joined costars Chris Hemsworth and Kat Dennings at the LA premiere of the Thor sequel, where he got in a chance to tickle fellow geek god Nathan Fillion on the red carpet. That wasn't the first time that Tom has let loose in front of photographers — in fact, Tom is always doing something interesting when he attends a big event. Click through to see our collection of Tom's best moments on the red carpet, from dancing to kissing his elegant costars.
Chris Hemsworth had the support of both his real-life and fictional brothers tonight at the LA premiere of Thor: The Dark World. Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the movie, and Liam Hemsworth were both on hand at the Marvel movie's debut, as was Jaimie Alexander, Zachary Levi, and Nathan Fillion. Luckily for Chris, he told us this evening that his relationship with Liam has little in common with Thor and Loki's relatively contentious one. There's another aspect of Chris's character that might hit closer to home for him, though: the demigod's knack for heroism. When we asked whether he's ever done anything superhero-worthy in his own life, Chris revealed that he once helped save a surfer from drowning.
Tonight's red carpet was one of several Chris has walked in recent months. Not only will he make his third big-screen outing as his comic-book character when Thor: The Dark World hits US theaters this weekend, but he also recently starred in Ron Howard's Rush. The F1 racing film didn't top the box office, but Thor's sequel is poised to dominate theater ticket sales, having already raked in more than $109 million internationally. Stay tuned tomorrow for more from the Thor red carpet, including our chat with Tom Hiddleston on how Loki would feel about being such a well-liked bad guy.
Natalie Portman stood out in a gorgeous white gown at the Berlin premiere of her new film, Thor: The Dark World, on Sunday. The actress donned a strapless white dress, coordinating with her handsome costars, Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth. The trio was all smiles while walking the red carpet just days after attending the London and Paris premieres of their film. While promoting the movie, Natalie joked that she enjoyed slapping Chris, saying that she delivered "one small slap for womankind." We got a chance to sit down with Natalie's Thor: The Dark World costars, including Chris and Tom, to chat about working with the actress. Stay tuned for the interviews ahead of the film's release on Nov. 8.
Natalie Portman brought a high dose of glamor to the Paris premiere of her new film, Thor: The Dark World, today, donning a Dior dress and posing for photos with costar Tom Hiddleston. Natalie was accompanied by her French husband, Benjamin Millepied, who also walked the red carpet with her at the film's London premiere just one day before. Costars Chris Hemsworth and Kat Dennings joined Natalie and Tom at the London event. Tom wooed the leading ladies by trading photo ops with Natalie and Kat, while Chris walked the carpet solo, and the stars were later spotted out for an afterparty.
The glamorous premiere bashes come after two busy days of press for Natalie, who dropped by the BBC Radio 1 studios Tuesday morning. Earlier this weekend, Natalie revealed that she savored the chance to slap Chris Hemsworth in the film, because it was her character Jane's revenge for Thor ignoring her when he came back to Earth in The Avengers. Chris wasn't the only guy who Natalie got to romance in the latest installment of the Thor franchise — check out a sneak peek from Thor: The Dark World, in which Jane goes on a date with an adorable man played by Chris O'Dowd. Natalie, Chris, and Tom's latest flick will hit theaters in the US on Nov. 8.
Chris Hemsworth shows off his racing skills in the this week's new release, Rush, but once upon a time, he was famous for showing off some other talents. The Aussie actor appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno this week to talk about his new movie and instead was confronted with a couple clips from his past. The first is a dramatic performance from the Australian soap Home and Away, and the second one is of Hemsworth shakin' it on the down under version of Dancing With the Stars. They're equally as entertaining, and I'll probably never look at Hemsworth the same way again.
Check out the clip after the jump.
Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl may play rival F1 racers in Ron Howard's Rush, but the two presented a united front at the Toronto International Film Festival to premiere their film. Chris, who trimmed 30 pounds off his frame after playing Thor to portray racer James Hunt, talked with us about what he missed most while he was on the bare-bones diet. The transformation was more than physical; Ron compared his leading man's performance in the film to one of Robert De Niro's most memorable roles. Rush hits theaters on Sept. 27.
Chris Hemsworth had the support of his brothers, Liam and Luke Hemsworth, last night at the Toronto International Film Festival's premiere of Rush. It was a family affair for the Hemsworth clan; Elsa Pataky, Chris's wife, was also at the debut. Olivia Wilde, who plays Chris's love interest in Rush, brought her fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, and we later spotted the pair enjoying a post red carpet drink at the hotel across the street.
Chris plays the late F1 racer James Hunt in Rush, and went on something of a crash diet to slim down after playing Thor to fit into the notoriously small race cars — last night, he told us he missed everything "bad for you" while he was on the restricted eating plan. Director Ron Howard told us that despite some initial concerns over Chris's physicality, he was more concerned with what the actor could bring to the role on an emotional level. Daniel Brühl, who plays Chris's adversary Niki Lauda in the film, was also in attendance at the debut of the movie. Daniel is having a breakout TIFF this year, also starring opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in The Fifth Estate, which traces the rise of WikiLeaks. Stay tuned for more of our red carpet coverage from the Rush premiere!
OK, to be fair, Chris and Liam Hemsworth both looked great, too, but Olivia Wilde turned heads when she rocked a fierce tuxedo-inspired look at the London premiere of Rush on Sunday. Chris, who stars as English racer James Hunt in the film, linked up with his wife, Elsa Pataky, for the event. Meanwhile, Olivia stunned in a black Gucci tuxedo for the premiere, and she stopped to sign autographs when she walked the red carpet. Her fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, didn't attend since he was at Seth Meyers's wedding on Martha's Vineyard, but days earlier, the couple showed sweet PDA in the stands at the US Open.
Liam headed overseas to support his brother, sporting a dapper suit for the premiere. His fiancée, Miley Cyrus, was not at the event, but the pair recently walked the red carpet together at the Paranoia premiere in early August. After Miley performed at the VMAs last weekend, she made headlines for her risqué dance moves alongside Robin Thicke during a medley of "We Can't Stop" and "Blurred Lines."
It's officially the year of Channing Tatum! The Magic Mike star was just crowned People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2012. Channing's wife of three years, Jenna Dewan, was excited for him, but she stressed that his beauty isn't skin deep. She said, "People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don't know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is. He is such an open-hearted person; what you see is what you get."
There are plenty more attractive men on People's list of the hottest of the year. Chris Hemsworth, Ben Affleck, and Paul Rudd are in their group of 12 honorees, which also includes Denzel Washington, Max Greenfield, and Olympian Oscar Pistorius. Click through to see some of the year's most beautiful, and congrats to all the winners!
