These Are the 18 Best New Products Our Editors Love For February

01/02/2018 - 12:39 PM

Although we may be entering the shortest month of the year, there's no shortage of beauty products to get out and buy! We've spent weeks testing the following 18 goodies so you wouldn't have to (rough life — we know). Just in time for Valentine's Day, we've found the items worth falling in love with, from a flower-filled lip gloss to a high-tech hair dryer that cuts styling time in half. But be warned: you're going to want it all.

Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot Rubber Hydro Mask

"I'm a huge fan of Dr. Jart+'s rubber masks and can't wait to get my hands on the line's latest product, this Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot Rubber Hydro Mask [1] ($12). The DIY [2] kit comes with a mixture, adorable container, and application tool. It is available in three other choices for all your skincare needs, but I want the hydrating one to help soothe my dried-out skin." — Krista Jones, assistant editor, Shop

Slip Silk Pillowcase in Pink Kisses

"What lucky boo thang will I be cozying up to this Valentine's Day? This Slip Silk Pillowcase in Pink Kisses [3] ($79)! Not only does this pure silk bed sheet regulate temperature (read: no more waking up to a 500° pillowcase!), but it also protects skin and prevents hair breakage. Your face will shine brighter, your blowout will last longer, and you'll definitely smile more after taking just one look at this cheeky limited-edition kiss print." — Alaina Demopoulos, editorial assistant, Beauty

Aura Mugler Eau de Parfum

"I'll admit it: sometimes I place the green diamond-shaped packaging of Aura Mugler [4] ($75) over my head because I think it makes me look like a Sim character. But that's not the only thing I love about this perfume. The unexpectedly musky mix of rhubarb, bourbon, vanilla, and orange blossom somehow manages to be both subtle and sexy. I simply ooze confidence whenever I spritz it on. If you need a quick pick-me-up, just spray this into the air and then walk into the perfume as it settles. It will linger all over your hair and body to make you feel like the fabulous, powerful woman you are." — AD

Deborah Lippmann Touch Me in the Morning

"I know what you're going to say: pastels for Spring aren't exactly groundbreaking. But this Deborah Lippmann Touch Me in the Morning Set [5] ($36) puts a dirty, dusty spin on classic Easter-esque hues. I'm especially feeling the muted-green Free Fallin' because I'm a Valentine's Day Scrooge who doesn't want to wear red or pink on Feb. 14. If you're more traditional, the creamy pink You Make My Dreams is a sumptuous flamingo option you'll totally swoon over." — AD

Lipstick Queen Dating Game Lipstick

"Valentine's Day is seriously getting me in the mood for a sultry, sexy lip, and I want to try this Lipstick Queen Dating Game Lipstick [6] ($24). It comes in four different pink shades and is infused with vitamin E and shea butter, which help keep my lips nourished throughout the day." — Krista Jones

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream

"I was blown away when I tried the new Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream [7] ($68). I have acne-prone skin, and a lot of moisturizers are too heavy for my complexion. I was amazed to see how well it absorbed into my skin without making me look shiny. It's formulated with proteins to improve skin's texture, tone, and firmness. The cute Tiffany-blue jar has now made a permanent spot in my medicine cabinet." — Sarah Siegel, editorial assistant, Products and Shopping

Milani Cosmetics Bold Obsessions Eye Shadow Palette

"Eye shadow palettes sure are pretty to look at. But if you're a shadow novice like me, then dropping over $50 on a few pans isn't always necessary. Luckily for me, Milani just released the chicest palettes at the drugstore. The Bold Obsessions Eye Shadow Palette [8] ($20) comes with 12 matte and metallic shadow pans in a spectrum of bronze and rose gold colors. Each hue is rich in pigment and glides on like butter. Not to mention, they last for hours (especially if used with a primer). Create bold or subtle looks with this palette, and rest easy knowing that it won't break the bank." — Aimee Simeon, editor and contributing writer, Social Media

T3 Cura Luxe Hair Dryer

"The T3 Cura Luxe Hair Dryer [9] ($250) did the impossible: it made me think that hair-drying doesn't have to suck. Before I found this, every four days after I'd wash my strands, you'd find me struggling with a hefty dryer, hating my life as I blew hot air all over my damp head. Now, my drying time is cut in half, thanks to the Cura Luxe's personalized speed settings and antifrizz ion generator. This is the future that beauty girls want: a speedy hair-drying process delivered via a sleek, easy-to-handle tool. The T3 makes both futuristic dreams a reality. Who needs flying cars?" — AD

Revision Skincare Intellishade TruPhysical™ 4-in-1 Moisturizer

"Some people collect lipsticks. I collect sunscreens, so I know when I've found a gem. I love Revision Skincare [10] Intellishade TruPhysical™ 4-in-1 Moisturizer ($75). It's got a full-spectrum SPF as well as 20 — yeah, 20 — ingredients to improve your skin tone and texture. The primary reason I wear SPF is to keep my melasma from worsening, but having a product that includes powerful antioxidants to help with my skin's smoothness and texture is a huge bonus. I wear it similarly to a primer because it does have a little bit of a tint to it, which also makes it great for creating a minimal makeup look. The tint also adjusts to your skin tone so that it blends and doesn't appear too chalky. The only thing I wish I could change is the price tag, but I'm always willing to invest when it comes to great skin care." — Kirbie Johnson; host, producer, and senior video reporter; Beauty

Beauty Bakerie Cake Face Concealer

"When it comes to concealers, my dark circles like 'em thick and full of coverage. Beauty Bakerie just released its Cake Face Concealers [11] ($20), and they are everything I look for in a good complexion corrector. The line comes with eight pigmented shades that have a gel-like texture. A little goes a long way, and each one can be used to spot-treat, highlight, and even contour. Though only eight shades are currently available, the Cake Face Concealers still manage to cover a variety of skin tones, from super fair to super rich — and that makes me love them even more!" — AS

OGX Bonding Plex Cream

"My boyfriend and I have many things in common, but one that's unusual is our love of OGX products. He adores the Green Tea and Peppermint Shampoo, and lately I've been enjoying its new launches, like the Pomegranate & Ginger Scalp Toner [12] ($8) and the line of Bonding Plex products. It reminds me a lot of a mass version of Olaplex. I use the Bonding Plex Bonding Cream [13] ($7) after I shower and before heat styling and have noticed my hair get stronger and look less damaged over the past few weeks." — Kirbie Johnson

Lancôme Jelly Flower Lip Tint

"The bottom of my purse is full of stray lip glosses, but none are as cute as my new Lancôme Jelly Flower Lip Tint [14] ($33). Yes, those are real fricking flowers living inside of this tube, and luckily the aesthetics of this gloss once its applied match its chic container. I love dabbing just a smidge of this pink formula onto the center of my lips for a slight, natural-looking rosy flush. Even though the wet look is subtle, it's oh so sexy. When I wear it, I look so good, I just might snag a last-minute Valentine." — AD

Peace Out Pores

"This brand is a lot of fun. Known for its hydrocolloid dots, which help pull all that gunk out of your pores and minimize your blemishes, Peace Out Acne has created a pore strip with the same concept: Peace Out Pores [15] ($19 for eight strips). You put it on your nose or chin — I used it before bed — and let it sit for six hours. In the morning, instead of pulling out your hair follicles in addition to cleaning out your pores, it gently peels off the face, taking all the gross yet satisfying gunk with it." — Kirbie Johnson

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Soirée

"The first perfume I ever bought was a 2006 Juicy Couture release, purchased with my own allowance money at a T.J. Maxx in New Hampshire. More than a decade later, the brand continues to deliver superfun, fresh fragrances, and Soirée [16] ($78) is no exception. I'm obsessed with the fruity top notes, which include kiwi and mandarin. But this also contains whiffs of jasmine, amber, and musk, which anchor this fragrance. The result is a mature but playful scent. It also doesn't hurt that this pink splatter-paint packaging is cute as a button — along with the bow that surrounds this bottle." — AD

I Dew Care Space Kitten

"Skincare darling I Dew Care — creator of that viral, metallic, and perennially sold-out Disco Kitten Face Mask [17] — is back with another peel-off [18] ($23) that's bound to follow its older sister's footsteps. This charcoal, topaz, and diamond (fancy!) powder-infused mask spreads navy blue glitter onto your face. As you wait 20 minutes, ingredients like volcanic ash and witch hazel work to brighten your skin and keep oil production in check. That means you'll wash this off to notice a more vibrant, matte complexion. I love using this before I apply makeup on a big night because, quite simply, it makes me glow." — AD

Sara Happ The Dream Slip

"I never used to be into lip masks or scrubs until the past year, when I noticed my lips becoming more and more decrepit looking. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but my lips have been dryer and peeling more than ever before. I love slippery lip products like balms, and even a lip mask every now and then, but I never fully saw results. Sara Happ's The Dream Slip [19] ($32) has been instrumental in improving how my lips look. It's an overnight mask that has a unique texture. When you wake up, your lips are soothed, smoother, and poutier, thanks to jojoba and chamomile." — Kirbie Johnson

Edible Beauty No. 2 Citrus Rhapsody Toner Mist

"I'm a facial-spray addict, so I have pretty high standards for my mists. This Australian import holds up to my OG favorite spray from Mario Badescu. Not only does the Edible Beauty No. 2 Citrus Rhapsody Toner Mist ($33, out Feb. 13) smell like a refreshing glass of orange juice, but its blend of fig and bilberry also hydrate my Winter-dull skin. Calendula also soothes any redness or irritation I may have. I love how this mist also doubles as a toner, which means it pulls double duty to clear impurities while revitalizing my face. Oh, and it lives in a gorgeously sleek, black-and-white, floral-patterned box that would make the best Valentine's Day gift for any skincare-lover." — AD

Nest Fragrances Wisteria Blue Rollerball

"OK, I know the Desperate Housewives reference I'm about to make is like 10 years too late to be relevant, but the ladies of Wisteria Lane would totally dig Nest's similarly titled Wisteria Blue Rollerball Perfume [20] ($27). Scents of jasmine and rose mix with the eponymous note to create a subtle but intoxicating scent that's perfect for on-the-go touch-ups. I've thrown this (gorgeously packaged) rollerball in my purse and have been known to bust it out on the subway, during meetings, on first dates, literally anywhere. The delicate scent is so classic, my impromptu swiping is always appreciated by whoever is lucky enough to smell me." — AD
