The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is a spectacle — one of the most anticipated events to take place in the lingerie world — but behind the perfectly styled waves and ethereal glow of the Angels is tireless preparation. Everything from what to do with the models' skin before applying makeup to what happens if there's a power outage (it's more likely than you'd think) has a plan A, B, and C. We've heard from the pros what really happens backstage at the show, including their preemptive plans of action, humongous preorders, and magical massage techniques.

1. Models Will Enjoy Face Massages

This year, models may have face massages prior to having their makeup done. "While prepping the models for the show, I'll use my 'Tilbury Tap' massage technique," lead makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury said. "The massages stimulate lymphatic drainage and boost microcirculation. It gives every model fresh, glowing, and youthful-looking skin in seconds."

2. Extensions Fly

Lead hairstylist Anthony Turner said he will use "lots of hair extensions" on the models this year.

3. There'll Be Massive Nail Polish Orders

"It will take over 60 bottles of nail lacquers to complete the look this year," said nail artist Hein Pham, who has 13 artists at the ready. Consider how many bottles of nail polish you've ever finished in your lifetime.

4. Skin Reactions Could Happen

It's possible for models to have sensitive or reactive skin before the show, but this year, facialist Georgia Louise is ready. "The main focus is to calm the skin so nothing irritates the skin further," Louise said. "I use Dr. Barbara Sturm Calming Serum (£173), which almost instantly diminishes redness." She also uses her freeze tools to cool the area, face masks (depending on what the irritation is), and yellow LED light to calm inflammation.

5. Power Surges Are a Fear

One of the biggest challenges Turner foresees facing during the show is a power surge. "We need so much power for our hair dryers to be able to work all at the same time. We have a production team that comes in to make sure it's all running smoothly."
