Fekkai Apple Cider Detox Scrub Review

Fekkai’s Apple Cider Detox Scrub Is No Match For Flakes, Oiliness, and Dry Shampoo Build-Up

During the colder months, my skin gets drier from head to toe, including my scalp. The excess dryness leads to excess oil production and flakiness. I try to tame and manage the problem by using clarifying shampoos, yet it leads to more dryness. To top that all off, I regularly use dry shampoo to make my hair presentable and last just one more day. With all the flakiness, excess oil production, and product build-up, my scalp felt imbalanced and needed some love and care.

I never thought about investing in a scalp exfoliator. I thought that shampooing and my nails could do the trick. If not, I'm just a DIY from solving all my problems. However, I was clearly not making things better for my scalp. Just like our face and body skin, our scalp requires a certain balance of nourishing products and ingredients as well as active, problem-solving ingredients. Fekkai's Apple Cider Detox Scrub is one of those products that have the best of both worlds. Just after one use, it became a permanent part of my hair care arsenal. Keep reading for my in-depth review and how I like to use it.

Fekkai Apple Cider Detox Scrub

After scooping out a small-to-medium amount, I applied the Fekkai Apple Cider Detox Scrub ($30) on my wet hair that I parted into sections to work the scrub evenly into my scalp. However, I found it easier to concentrate the product on my scalp by flipping my head over and working the product into my scalp upside down. By doing this, it was easier to massage my whole scalp without the rest of my hair coming in the way. I scrubbed my scalp for a minute or two minutes and then let it sit for another two to three minutes, as directed.

Since the scrub has a rich, creamy base, it didn't feel overly abrasive like a traditional physical scrub — it felt more like a cream cleanser. Once I rinsed it out, my scalp felt a lot cleaner yet nourished. In fact, when I followed up with shampoo, not only did it lather quicker than usual, but I didn't have to use a lot of shampoo in the first place. Using this scrub was like utilising the double cleansing method for your scalp.

Fekkai Apple Cider Detox Scrub

The Fekkai Apple Cider Detox Scrub ($30) definitely worked its magic in removing excess oil, flakes, and product build-up without stripping the scalp or over-drying my roots. The physical exfoliators were quite gentle and didn't scratch or feel abrasive on my scalp. After blow-drying my hair, I noticed that my roots were lifted and had volume and my scalp felt nourished yet weightless. It felt clean and balanced but not at all stripped and dried out.

Although the immediate results were amazing, what really surprised me was that I was able to prolong washing my hair an extra day or two. Usually, by the time I reach the latter half of the second day going into third-day hair, I start to notice more oil production, dry flakes at my roots, and my scalp starts to feel irritated. With the scrub, my scalp and roots looked more presentable during my third to the fourth day. It was not overly oily or flaky, and it didn't feel irritated at all.

Fekkai Apple Cider Detox Scrub

I absolutely loved using the Fekkai Apple Cider Detox Scrub ($30) to diminish scalp build-up, dryness, and flakes. It's definitely going to be a regular part of my winter hair care routine to keep my scalp balanced, nourished, and flake-free during the colder, drier months.

Even the scent was absolutely intoxicating. It smelt like crisp, deliciously sweet green apples. I honestly stand in the shower and take a big whiff of it sometimes. It did not have that potent apple cider vinegar scent at all. It's a very fruity fall scent that will get you in the mood for apple cider donuts and pie.
