Phoebe Tonkin Makes a Case For "Satin" Skin

The "satin" skin beauty trend is still going strong, and Chanel brand ambassador Phoebe Tonkin is the latest celebrity to embrace the look. On Saturday, March 26, Tonkin attended the 13th annual Pre-Oscar Awards dinner hosted by Chanel and Charles Finch. The dinner was a star-studded event held at the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills.

Tonkin showed up at the event wearing a black, gold, and red sequin tweed dress from Chanel's Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection. Her makeup — a full face of Chanel Beauty — showcased a bold lip with minimal base makeup.

"We wanted to go with natural, fresh skin and a subtle eye that would complement the beautiful fresh pop of lip colour which was our focal point," celebrity makeup artist Georgi Sandev tells POPSUGAR exclusively. "The look was inspired partially by the dress and especially by the red sequins in it, but also by Phoebe's young and cool personality."

Satin skin, a new 2022 beauty trend, offers a soft, matte finish to the face with subtle pops of shine. Unlike the dewy look that reigned supreme last year, satin skin gives us just the right-amount of glow without overdoing it. Achieving it, though, starts before applying makeup: Sandev first prepped Tonkin's skin with the Chanel N°1 de Chanel Revitalizing Serum-In-Mist ($95), Chanel N°1 de Chanel Revitalizing Cream ($110), and the Chanel Huile de Jasmine Facial Oil ($120).

Then, it's all about laying down the perfect base. Sandev used the Chanel N°1 de Chanel Revitalizing Foundation ($70) to even out her skin tone and texture, followed by the Chanel Le Correcteur de CHANEL Longwear Concealer ($43). To finish off the look and keep her makeup in place all night, she swiped on the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder ($58).
