Summer of Sam

The Summer of 1977 was fraught with chaos for New Yorkers, who were dealing with city-wide blackouts, blistering temperatures, and a serial killer the terrorizing the outer boroughs. Spike Lee, who apparently has a thing for sweaty actors, set his 1995 film Summer of Sam against this steamy backdrop. In one scene, a woman played by Mira Sorvino goes to a disco with John Leguizamo's character, and her dewy skin doubles as a fabulous highlighter.
