Healing Times Are Different Depending on the Piercing

It's important to know that it's best to wait to change the jewellery until the piercing is completely healed, which can take up to six months — sometimes even more. Earlobes heal relatively quickly in comparison to cartridge piercings, due to the type of skin the jewellery resides in. After several months, my earlobe piercings were completely healed; I was able to take them out for days at a time or switch jewellery without a problem.

In contrast, with my nose piercing, I waited a strict six months before taking it out to change the jewellery, and still had problems with sensitivity. If I left my piercing out for a mere two hours, I would have to nearly repierce my nose to get the stud back through the hole.
