9 Times Dan Levy, Comedic Angel, Cracked Us Up During an Interview

Dan Levy really is one of Hollywood's best funny men, and every time he does an interview, he just confirms it further! The star and creator of Schitt's Creek has been a gem on the interview circuit for years, and with the show's final season garning a ton of Emmy nominations, he's been busier than ever. From new interviews he's done during quarantine to old interviews we're just unearthing again, it's much easier than you might think to fall down a rabbit hole of his interviews and emerge an hour later, having taken a healthy dose of laughter. If your day could use a few chuckles, keep reading to watch our favourite interviews that Dan (and a few special guests) has done over the past few years!

Dan's 2017 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert got off to a very tongue-in-cheek start, as the two of them poked fun at CBS's requirements to get around the problem of pronouncing Schitt's Creek's name on live TV. The conversation then evolves into a hilariously in-depth conversation about the Levy men's most iconic feature: their eyebrows.

Long before he was a star in his own right, Dan was hanging out with the stars, and Kelly isn't about to let him forget about the two times they'd met before! First, she shows him a clip of him interviewing her years ago for MTV Canada. "How was I allowed on TV?" he marveled. Then, we were treated to a brief cameo from Dan in Kelly's "Behind These Hazel Eyes" video, where he was an extra in the wedding scene.

For nearly half an hour, Dan "got panicky" with hot wings and spilled all sorts of funny anecdotes about Schitt's Creek and more. He covers everything from whether or not his character is really like him to Kanye West's line for Gap to awkward celebrity encounters. If you've ever wondered if Dan is actually that relatable in real life, this interview has all your answers!

As we all know, David Rose's love for Mariah Carey is all-consuming — and his portrayer is apparently a pretty big fan too. "She was everything to me," he reflected, before sharing his reaction to finding out that the diva herself had tweeted about the show. "I couldn't scream in the cab, Stephen!" will be your new favourite out-of-context quote.

If you didn't realise you needed a video of Eugene and Dan Levy analysing slang words, please allow us to enlighten you. Every moment of this "interview" is pure gold, as the father and son duo bounce questions and "lessons" back and forth. Their explanation of "Gucci" is particularly unforgettable, or, as Eugene would say, "guch."

The Levys subbed for Ellen on her show, hosting their Schitt's Creek family members Catherine O'Hara and Annie Murphy for a deeply entertaining interview session. It turns out that Dan is just as funny as a host as he is as the interview subject. "That's a deep question that I don't have an answer to," he deadpanned to O'Hara as she gushed about the Levys. Dan deftly kept the conversation going as the quartet covered everything from bad hairstyles to '70s comedies and much more.

Vogue's famed "73 Questions" interviews can often feel a little on the awkward side if the celebrity isn't totally into it. That's definitely not a problem for Dan, who answers questions about his home, his work, and (of course) his dog with signature deadpan humour. One early highlight: a terrified "I don't wanna know" answer to the question of how his dog Redmond would describe him.

Dan's Comedy Central live interview got off to a hilariously rocky start, as he is forced to admit he doesn't know how to shut off phone alerts when a call from his mom comes through at the start of the interview! He also made some very relatable quips about quarantine style ("I've been wearing this hat for two weeks now!") and even plays a rousing game of charades with host Josh Horowitz.

Dan's analysis of his and his father's joint placement on People's Sexiest Man Alive list has to be seen to be enjoyed fully. His description of his dad's "makeover" is particularly entertaining, and the best part is that it's snarky, but always affectionate and never mean — the hallmark of his humour both on and off the screen.
